Throwback Thursday

Mom was looking at some photos she has stored at Photobucket and she found this one of our angel brother, Bandit Bigtoes:

Bandit unexpectedly crossed the Rainbow Bridge on December 27, 2013. It was quite a shock to us and our mom. We miss him and his sweet personality a lot. But we know he is watching over us and we just know he comes to visit us, too. And yes, he is sleeping on a vinyl table cloth. Silly boy.

An Update on Fiona

We have some wonderful news to tell you! Fiona had a follow-up visit with the eye specialist this morning and she was very excited to see the improvement in Fiona's eye!

For anyone who is new to our blog, Fiona is our one-eyed sister. She has always had a bit of scar tissue on her eye. But early this year Fiona's eye became inflamed and the blood vessels were appearing in veins on top of her eyeball! It was really gross looking, and we know it was very uncomfortable for Fiona.  Fiona's condition stumped our regular vet, so she sent Fiona to a specialist. Fiona's condition stumped the animal ophthalmologist too!

Fiona was treated with two different types of eye drops. The blood vessels went from spidery looking veins to a total red cast to Fiona's eye. A third eye drop was added. When Fiona went back a fourth eye drop was added and she was prescribed an oral antibiotic. Something started working and Fiona's eye started improving. She could see again and she started playing with toys! And she has been snuggling with mom again.

The specialist told mom to cut back on the number of meds Fiona has been on. She is now down to 2 types of eye drops. She'll get one of the two times a day. She'll get the other one every other day. She will still get the oral medication twice daily until it is gone. Fiona will go back on September 8 for another check.

Friday Photos

Mom has been busy with the flashy box (aka her phone) so we are going to share some pictures today.

That's me, Clarissa, having a snack. Please excuse the carpet.

Ginger and I were sharing a sun puddle on the living room couch.

That's Johnny on mom's bed. Those are her goggles behind him.

We hope everyone enjoys their long weekend! Mom is going to a Beatles thing tomorrow called "Abbey Road on the River." We are going to be napping!

We Are Back

We have been gone from the blogosphere for entirely too long. Our mom has been extremely lazy when it comes to keeping up on our posties! We should hiss at her and stomp our angry paws and lash our angry tails, but she does clean our litter boxes and gives us brushies and fills our food and water dishes. And she also lets us snuggle with her. So we can forgive her.

Puff had to go to the vet on Friday. He has been bothered with a limp in his back leg for quite sometime. Mom saw him doing a "bunny hop" when she got home from work on Thursday and it frightened her. Puff would take a couple of steps with his front feet, the hop with his back feet other like a rabbit. The vet couldn't find anything specifically wrong with Puff, and Puff was scared and wouldn't walk for the vet. The vet sent him home and told mom to keep an eye on Puff. Our brother is walking better now even though the limp is still present. He even ran a little yesterday. The vet did find a tiny growth in the back of Puff's mouth. He said it may have always been there or it may be something new. Once again, he said to watch Puff regarding his eating habits. Puff has lost 3 lbs. since he was in for his annual exam a year ago.

Mom said she thinks Fiona's eye issue has been solved. The specialist added one more type of eye drop and a liquid antibiotic that had to be picked up at a compounding pharmacy. Since Fiona has been using the four different eye drops and taking the antibiotic the redness has gone away from Fiona's eye. Fiona has a follow up visit on May 28th.

Although we've been absent from posting, we have gone and visited our friends' blogs. Mostly we've been enjoying the spring weather and lots of sunbeams and window whiffies!  We do hope to be back more often!

Take care and PURR!

Comments Now Moderated

We wanted to let our friends know that all comments will have to be approved before they are posted. Spam comments have been showing up on some of the older posts over the past couple of days. We are sure our friends will understand.

Mom is still working on that database at work, and she has to finish knitting two hats by tomorrow night! One is almost finished and the other was just started last night. The hats are for people she is seeing this coming weekend. Mom is going to the Wizard World/Louisville Comic Con. It's in town, but she is staying at the hotel with friends who are coming in from England, North Carolina, and Wisconsin. She's excited to see them. She has never been to a Wizard World convention, although they are held all of the U.S.

If you all can spare some purrs, we would like to ask you to purr for our furriends, Trooper and Boo. They are both senior cats who are having some health issues with their kidneys. And we are also asking for purrs for a co-worker/friend of mom's. His cancer has returned and he has started chemotherapy treatment.

We may not be able to post again until sometime next week. Stay safe and we will see you soon!

Happy St. Paddy's Day

We wanted to let our friends know that we are all well and looking forward to some spring weather. Mom has been busy with a huge database at work and when she gets home she hasn't spent much time on the computer. Also, Firefox seems to hate her as she keeps getting error messages about a script not responding.

Mom has been knitting a lot and we have been getting lap time with her. Johnny is her personal "lap fungus." Almost anytime she sit down in her recliner he is in her lap. Sometime she makes him get down just so others can get some lap time with her.

We hope everyone is enjoying their St. Patrick's Day! We promise we will be back when things settle down with mom!

So Happy It's Thursday

We are happy it's Thursday because that is one day closer to the weekend and more snuggle time with mom! But in the meantime, we have sun puddles to lay in.  There is a heat wave here with the high temperature predicted to be 36 degrees. The snow is slowly melting and we can see the pieces of the ground that were beneath it.

Our sisfur, Jazzpurr, had an embarrassing mishap last night. She jumped onto the seat of the breakfast bar stool, the tried to jump onto the breakfast bar to get to Fred's special prescription food. We don't know if she misjudged the leap, or if her front feet slid on some mail. She scrabbled but couldn't get her footing and she made a rather ungraceful fall to the floor. Of course Jazzpurr ran off to hide her shame from us.  She soon reappeared no worse for wear, but she didn't try that stunt again.

We hope that our friends who live in the areas hit by this horrible winter storm are safe. We've seen reports on the news and it looks scary. And as mom says, she'll take snow over ice anytime, and this looks like they got both. We have four "aunties" (good friends of mom's) who live in North Carolina. Everyone has checked in so we know they and their furs are alright!

We may get a tiny bit of snow tomorrow, an 1" or so, and then it is suppose to warm up. We are very much ready for spring and window whiffies!
