Fred's at the Vet's Office

Mom made arrangements to drop off brother Fred at the vet's office this morning. He has stopped eating his prescription kibble. He gives it a sniff then turns away from it. Our uncle has seen Fred nibbling on the Nine Lives kibble that the rest of us eat. However, he just hasn't been eating enough in mom's opinion. What Fred has been doing is drinking water and some skim milk.

Fred is six years old and developed an issue with his kidneys last year. That's when he dropped down from 11 lbs. to 7 or 8 lbs. He has been holding steady at the weight. He also has chronic gingivitis. Even if his teeth were cleaned, this would only be a temporary fix. The vet said Fred should probably have his teeth extracted, but he doesn't think Fred would make it through the anesthesia.

When mom spoke with the vet at noon, she was told that Fred was given an antibiotic injection to help with the gingivitis and he was given sub-q fluids. He was also given an appetite stimulant. A bit later Fred ate almost a full can of cat food. The vet also wants Fred to have the sub-q fluids over the next two days. That means mom has to take him in again tomorrow and Thursday.

Please keep brother Fred in your purrayers that he will be feeling better soon and that he will eat his food!!!

Mom's New Tattoo

That's our mom's newest tattoo. She had that done on Wednesday night. Our Aunty Kim drew the kitty one day when she was in a staff meeting. Mom has always liked it and said it would make a cute tattoo. Since we didn't have any other news to share, we decided to share the picture.

If you're in a cold place, stay warm!!!!

EDIT: To Sparkle the Designer Cat: Mom is just going to leave the tattoo as a line drawing for the time being. Aunty Torchy also posted a filled in version of the drawing on Facebook. Mom really likes the line drawing the best.

To Random Felines: Mom said it's very cool that you have tattoos, too. Mom has 17 or 18. Most are kitties of some sort. We want to see your mom's tattoo when she decides to get it!

To Cat Chat with Caren and Cody: Mom said she knows tattoos aren't for everyone and that's okay. "If we all liked the same things, life would be boring," she said. She's glad you like the drawing though! Tee hee.

To Katnip Lounge: It really is a "CATtoo"!!! MOL

A Belated Happy New Year

Good morning and Happy Monday! We are back!!! Mom had 10.5 days off from work between Dec. 23 - Jan. 2. When she returned last week, she was busy catching up on stuff and getting back into the swing of working again. But we are back now and hope to post more often.

It was great having mom home with us. There was a lot of cuddle and snuggle time with her. And naps!!! Lots of nap time. We all got claw trims over the holidays - well, most of us. Fiona, Ginger, Spunky, Panda, and Puff won't let mom trim their claws. That has to be done by the v-e-t. Memphis got a second claw trim last night. He whacked our uncle on the nose during the night on Saturday and drew blood. It's a tiny tiny scratch, but it meant the claw points had to go.

Since we don't have new pictures for Mancat Monday, we are going to share a recent pic of our mom with Alice Cooper. She spent the weekend before Christmas in Phoenix with friends. They all meet up and go to the Alice Cooper Christmas Pudding show. It's a big variety show that is a fund raiser for the .
Alice Cooper's Solid Rock Foundation.

Our mom and Alice Cooper:

Mom is such a dork...*sigh*
