Taking Care Of Mom

We wanted to check in with our friends and let you all know that we are doing fine. Mom had carpal tunnel surgery and ulner release surgery on Wednesday. She is doing well. Her right arm was in a sling when she arrived home on Wednesday afternoon. It was numb from her shoulder to her fingertips from a nerve block. She said it was carrying a useless weight. We are going to share some photos. The first two are fine. There is nothing gross to see.

This is mom's bandaged arm on Thursday morning. She had a soft cast. Mom said her pain was minimal, but she slept a lot that day.

The next picture was taken Thursday night. You all can see what good nurses we are. That's Batman at the top, then Sable, and Puff in her lap. Fiona is laying to the side. Johnny is at the bottom. They weren't going to let her go anywhere.

Mom was allowed to unwrap her arm today and see what damage was done. If you don't want to see her incisions you might want to leave now.

This is mom's palm and wrist. She was happy to see that the surgeon didn't cut into her tattoo.
And this is her inner arm:
And her outer arm. This one surprised her the most!
One of her Facebook friends said that was HARDCORE.

Honestly, she says it looks worse than it feels. That's good because it looks awful!!!

She is going to try to go back to work on Tuesday. She won't be able to lift anything, but she thinks she'll be able to drive if she wears her brace.

We hope all of you are in better shape than mom!!!

Clarissa

One Week Later....

It's been one week since sweet Fred crossed that Bridge. We miss our brofur, as does mom, but have been doing our best to show her our love. Many of us have taken to laying on mom's right when she is watching t.v. That was Fred's favorite spot. Mom always laughed because white-furred Fred would always be on the right, and black-furred Sable would always lay on the left. The middle was reserved for me! None of us like to curl around mom's hand like Fred did, but she said that's okay. She knows we are all different. That just happened to be his thing to do.

Mom has some pictures of Fred on her phone. We wanted to share a couple of them now. Something Fred started doing as he started feeling worse was finding cooler places to lay down. Most of the time it would be the tile floor in the bathroom. However, mom walked into the kitchen one day to find this:

We think Fred was still a handsome boy, but he looks older than his 10 years. His face is thinner, and he isn't the shiny, clean white kitty that he had been. He still washed and tried to groom, but you can see how gray his tail looked, and his ears. Mom tried to keep him cleaner, but he would squirm and get so agitated that she would let him go.

Mom didn't fuss at him for being in the sink. She knew he didn't feel well. This was take about a month before he passed.

We would like to thank everybody who left messages of sympathy for us. It meant a lot to mom and us. There will always be a place in our hearts for Fred, but we know it was time for him to fly free. As long as we have memories of him then he will still live on in our hearts and home.

Poe the Rescured Kitten - New Pictures

We have a couple of new pictures of Poe. He is growing up and is about 6 months old now. You can tell that he loves his forever home in South Carolina.

He looks comfortable while laying in his mom's lap. He has definitely grown but still looks like a kitten here.

But my oh my! Poe looks more like a real mancat in this picture. And look at his jade green eyes. Poe is one handsome dude! And if you look really close you can see that he is smiling!

We are going to make mom go back and tag the posts that relate to Poe. In the meantime, if you want to refresh your memory, you can read the first post about him here:  Intruder Alert

Pictures of Poe

Here are the most recent pictures mom has of baby Poe. These were from a couple of weeks ago.

With his Dad, Tom.

Snoozing with Mom, Nancy.

Sleeping soundly.

Stretched out beside his Mom. She said he likes to sleep on his back.

The tip of Poe's tail is still bare. Nancy said he will chew the fur off.

He LOVES refried beans and rice!!!

Mom is going to ask Nancy for some pics again soon. Poe is a growing boy and is a little over 5 months old now. He is going to be a handsome mancat!

Kitten Updates

We wanted to let our furiends know what has been happening with the Poe and the little tabby kitten we mentioned in a previous post.

We will start with Poe. In case you don't remember, Poe was the black kitten our mom found and rehomed with friends in South Carolina. His mom said he has adjusted to life in his forever home. He has two dog furblings and two cat furblings. Both his mom and dad are totally in love with him, but his dad especially so. And Poe follows his dad all over the house. That makes us so happy!!! Mom has some new pictures of Poe, but she needs to download them from her phone. We will share them with you soon.

We also have some good news regarding the little tabby boy kitten. He will be going to a forever home soon. A lady who works with one of mom's best friends is going to take him when she gets back from her vacation. In the meantime, the lady who found him is going to foster him.

We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Did anyone get to see the Super Moon/Blood Moon/Total Eclipse last night? It was too cloudy here to see it. Mom was disappointed because she really wanted to see it. Of course it is sunny today. That seems to happen a lot whenever there is a lunar eclipse here.

Mom went to and Irish festival on Saturday. She told us she had a really good time drinking Harp and listening to Irish music. She also said she liked looking at the different vendor booths although she didn't do a lot of shopping. We napped while mom was gone, which is a perfectly acceptable way to spend an afternoon in our book!

We hope everyone has a great week!

Clarissa

Pictures of Me - Clarissa

Mom found some older pictures of me and I wanted to share them with my friends.

Clarissa - 2003 (above and below)
 Clarissa - 2013 (below)

I'm not as full figured now as I was back in 2003, but my weight is healthy. My tummy isn't fluffy white anymore either. In 2004 I developed an allergy and I started overgrooming my tummy. I have to get a depo injection about every 12-16 weeks. If I don't, I will groom my belly until it is raw.  Mom has gotten rid of both of those old kitchen stools and she hasn't replaced them yet. I still sleep on the beds most of the time.

We wanted to thank everyfur for their prayers for Judith. As of today, $6200 has been raised for her needs. Mom hasn't heard and more news regarding her recovery, but we will post more when she does.

Friday Photos

Mom has been busy with the flashy box (aka her phone) so we are going to share some pictures today.

That's me, Clarissa, having a snack. Please excuse the carpet.

Nap pile #1: Lily, Daisy, Fred the Pillow, and the toes of Spunky.
Ginger and I were sharing a sun puddle on the living room couch.

That's Johnny on mom's bed. Those are her goggles behind him.

We hope everyone enjoys their long weekend! Mom is going to a Beatles thing tomorrow called "Abbey Road on the River." We are going to be napping!
