Pictures of Me - Clarissa

Mom found some older pictures of me and I wanted to share them with my friends.

 Clarissa - 2013 (below)

I'm not as full figured now as I was back in 2003, but my weight is healthy. My tummy isn't fluffy white anymore either. In 2004 I developed an allergy and I started overgrooming my tummy. I have to get a depo injection about every 12-16 weeks. If I don't, I will groom my belly until it is raw.  Mom has gotten rid of both of those old kitchen stools and she hasn't replaced them yet. I still sleep on the beds most of the time.

We wanted to thank everyfur for their prayers for Judith. As of today, $6200 has been raised for her needs. Mom hasn't heard and more news regarding her recovery, but we will post more when she does.

Monday, Monday

Mom and our uncle went to Phoenix, AZ for a long weekend. They visited friends who meet up there every December. Mom said they had a great time. One of her co-workers stopped by the house every day to check on us. He scooped the litter boxes, gave us fresh water, and filled our kibble bowls. He told mom that Johnny and Cash and Fred followed him around the house and kept rubbing all over his legs. We bet his own kitty and dogs were thrilled with having our scents on their dad! Mom had to go back to work today, but our uncle is here with us. It is nice having them back home.

We have our paws crossed that the plumbing problems are over with. Since mid-October the water heater has been replaced, a busted pipe has been replaced, the trap in the bathroom sink and the washing machine have been replaced, and now the main sewer line from the house to the city sewer line has been replaced. That is a lot of green papers spent. The homeowners insurance is covering the water damage from the busted pipe. So far most of the flooring in the living room and hallway has been installed. The contractor didn't measure correctly and they can't complete the hallway until the remainder of the new flooring arrives. All of the old kitchen flooring has been removed and the contractor will be here on Wednesday to install the new flooring. Once that is done repairs can begin on the two holes in the kitchen wall.

Also, we are asking for prayers for a friend from Facebook.

Judith a member of a message board that mom is on and in a group on Facebook that mom belongs too. She is in the hospital recovering from a fire that devastated her home. Judith has lost everything except her car and what was in it. According the reports mom has heard, Judith sustained burns on her face and hands when she went back to try to rescue her cats. One kitty ran out of the house, but did not survive due to smoke inhalation. Three were found safe in the basement, although one had a burn on her paw. Three or four others are not accounted for. Mom is in tears whenever she thinks about it. Things can be replaced.

There is a GoFundMe account set up to help Judith once she is released from the hospital. We are including a link to the page here: GoFundMe for Judith Alberty. Mom knows the lady personally who set up the account. Michelle was Bruce's mom.

Mostly, we are asking for prayers for Judith. She needs all of the love, support, and healing thoughts that she can get.

Fly free, sweet Bruce.

We found out last night that our friend, Bruce, crossed the Rainbow Bridge.  Bruce lived with a friend of our mom's. He was a teenaged kitty who was FIV+.  His mom posted on Facebook that he was failing, had a massive tumor, and his quality of life was not what he deserved. She and his vet helped him make his Bridge journey. Bruce had 9 good years in a loving home with his mom, and his younger sister, Peaches. We know his mom will miss him.

R.I.P. sweet, Bruce.

Checking In on the Interwebs

Wowie! Has it really been mid-September since I last posted? There is a lot of catching up to do!

First off, we are all fine. Memphis had a teeth cleaning on November 4, but other than that there is no exciting news to report on us. And that is a good thing. Mom and our uncle were down with a nasty stomach flu about 10 days ago, but they are both well now.

So where have we been? Our furry butts have been at home, but mom was traveling a good part of October. She went to Walker Stalker Con Atlanta in mid-October. That's a convention for fans of the t.v. show, The Walking Dead. When she got home from that she immediately took off and drove to North Carolina. She spent a week there with our Anty Torchy. Anty Torchy rode back to Kentucky with mom and she was here for almost a week. Mom drove to northern Indiana to see a friend and they went to an Alice Cooper concert in Hammond. Mom was home for a week and then got the nasty stomach flu.

Oh, and our house is a mess! A week before mom left town the water heater died. When the plumber came to replace it  he said that there was a leaking pipe in the wall. Water had gotten in the wall, under the flooring in both the hall way and the kitchen floor and ruined some paneling. All of that had to be torn out and then big machines where brought in to dry out the floors. They were loud and they made the house hot. We weren't crazy about the loud part, but we liked the warmth. Hopefully the contractor will be starting on the repairs very soon. Flooring had to be ordered and that's what mom is waiting on. Then there is a huge hole in the kitchen wall that will need to be fixed. Like I said, it is one big mess.

That's about it for now. I just wanted to let you know that we are still around!

Clarissa

Thankful Thursday: Tika

This little girl showed up on a board friend's front porch last week:

Isn't she a beauty? The lady fed her and to make a long story short, she ended up bringing her inside. A visit to the vet determined that she was healthy, but very, very thin. You can see that it the following pictures:

Her estimated age is 8 to 12 months. The vet said she has all of her adult teeth. She is also quite friendly, so she has had contact with humans. She may have been dumped or left behind. But she has now found her forever home.

Her new mom has named her Tika. We know she has a new brother and sister, but we don't know if they have been introduced yet.

We are thankful that Tika has found her home and will no longer be living on the streets. And we know she is thankful too.

Fiona the Ferocious

Clarissa turned the blog over to me today.

I had a check-up appointment with my eye specialist this morning. I let mom put me in the carrier. I rode quietly all the way to the specialist's office. I let mom get me out of the carrier and I laid in her lap all wrapped up in my blanket. And when the tech and the doctor came to look at my eye I turned into THE CAT FROM HELL!!!! I hissed and growled and snapped my alligator-like jaws at the vet. And when she tried a second time I did it again! Mom got up and tried to wrap me in the blanket and I clawed up the back of her hand and one finger. I am FEROCIOUS! Dr. T said that I would have to be sedated for the exam. Since I haven't been having any problems mom and the doctor decided not to do the exam. If I start having any problems I can always go back. Mom kept apologizing for my bad behavior. Once I calmed down I let mom put me back in the carrier and behaved all the way back home.

I showed them that I am the boss!!! *Beaming proudly*

Cats & Kittens in need of help...

A good friend of mom's posted this on Facebook. We told her we would share it here. If you are in North Carolina or know someone who is and can help, please call the number listed below.

I have omitted the very disturbing pict that was with this post...

BUT WE HAVE BEEN ASKED TO POST THIS AND SEND AN EMERGENCY MESSAGE TO ALL CAT RESCUES AND ORG.

Suzzane Melton of Suzies zoo went to NC shelter today to pull kittens and cats scheduled for death.
She found several disturbing situations and now we are asking for anyone who can help, to please come forward. Suzzane found dead cats in their cages and some were suffering from bites from cockroaches.

Ten cats were pulled and she suspects they all may die.
The shelter director was seen spraying pesticides inside and outside of the shelter according to the email we received.

This is only one picture of the horrific state these cats were in.

If you can help get some of these babies out of this place, please call 704-877-0916

We will forward info
This is completely unacceptable and pathetic.
Emails and calls are going out as we write.
( this info was sent to our org; anyone interested in verifying should contact us and we will connect you with proper persons handling this.We are
Sending out what was emailed to us and we are absolutely appalled if this all true!!!)
