Tabby Tuesday
These kitties are named Wolfie (Wolfgang) and Brutus. They live in northern Ohio and are furiends of ours. Another furiend, Kato, sent them these collars that light up when they purr. Mom wants to get a couple for us.

Catching Up: Sugar and Mr. Kenya
Meowmie heard back from Victoria regarding the adoption of Sugar. Even though meowmie had a great reference from the vet's office she and her husband (who are taking care of Sugar) said they thought it would be in his best interest to go to a home where he could get more one-on-one care. Meowmie said she understood completely and this is what Victoria wrote back:
Thank you for being so understanding. This is probably the first time I've ever turned down a good application (which was very difficult to do)! And I worried you would hate me for it. But we've never had a cat here who was clearly set fire to... and it did a number on him emotionally. BTW - you are welcome to come visit him any time. I know we will find the right home for him eventually, but it won't be easy. Most of the people who are sensitive enough to his situation are like you and I - already have many
animals.
I also want to say that I am impressed that you have not declawed any of your cats. We actually won't adopt our cats out to someone who may declaw them, so it's a big issue for us. Really, you seem like a wonderful, wonderful person and I'm so glad you have been able to help so many.
Meowmie said her note almost made her cry. But she knows she has enough to take care of with 13 of us cats. We keep telling her that she can't save all of the kitties that need help, but she tries.

In Memorium: Mr. Kenya, Director of Rodent Control, Retired
Meowmie met this handsome kitty at the botanical garden when she was in Arizona. This picture was taken on December 16, 2007. She called the gift shop yesterday to order something and mention Mr. Kenya. The clerk said Mr. Kenya crossed the Bridge on Christmas Eve. He was around 16 years old.

Not So Wordless Wednesday: RIP el Puma Magnifico
el Puma crossed the Bridge early this morning with the help of his meowmie and his vet. We had no idea that his kidneys were so bad. el Puma was our Puerto Rican friend at the Meowmail message board. I started visiting that board in September 2000 when I was a baby kitten and el Puma was there then. We will miss his post written in the finest Spanglish.
Be at rest our friend. *gentle earlicks and kiss on your nariz*

A New Brofur?
I don't know what we are going to do with our meowmie. She promised us that no more kitties would be joining our home. After all, there are already 13 of us furs here. But she saw a kitty on Catster's adoptable pages that just pulled at her heart.
Here is his story from the page:
Nicknames: Captain Picard
Coloration: Cream
Arrival Story:
Oh goodness, this boy has been through the ringer. Poor cat was hanging out outside a restaurant in Carrolton KY, fending for himself. He stunk to high heaven, had a huge abscess on his leg, a terrible upper respiratory in his lungs, AND it appears he has been BURNED. That's right - his right eye will permanently look like this because the skin between the eye and the ear has been melted and the eyelid will always pull up. He needs a bit of eye lubricant on a daily basis because of this scar tissue rubbing his eye. His ears are also blackened at the tips and scarred. His tail may have also been broken at one point. Holly's Place received an email about him and we asked the people to bring him to us. We got him immediate vet care. This was early March. His leg wound has now healed, his upper respiratory is gone, and he's been neutered. But he still looks very rough.
Bio:
Sugar has since struggled with a rare form of mange. He has only skin scrape left and he should be in the clear. But this poor boy has been through it!

Meowmie exchanged several emails with the shelter lady before she filled out the online application. Sugar has to eat Purina D/M to keep his sugar levels in line and needs that lubricant put in his eye. Otherwise he has no other health problems. She said he gets along with other kitties too, which is a must.
Meowmie's concern is if he will learn to trust her. There is a picfur of him snuggled in someone's lap, so he isn't totally afraid of people.
We will keep everyone up-to-date.

Meezer Monday
This is one of the pictures of Memphis that Metro Animal Services had on their website when Memphis was in need of a home. I fell for that handsome face and blue eyes and soon he was cat #8 in our household.
