Purring for Those In the Southern USA

We are asking for everyone in the Cat Blogosphere to join us in purrs and prayers for those who have been effected by the tornadoes that ripped through Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, and Virginia yesterday. Our hearts are going out to them. One of mom's co-workers has a daughter who is a freshman at the UA in Tuscaloosa. She is fine and said the university itself was not hit. However, the destruction around the area is unimaginable. Her dad told us that she said it looked like someone had dropped a bomb on the city. Her dad grew up in Oklahoma, so he is no stranger to tornadoes himself.

Our mom experienced the April 4, 1974 tornado that hit Louisville, KY. Although she and her family weren't directly effected, she remembers the devastation it caused as it tore through parts of town not far from her house.

The University of Louisville, where our mom works, is going to hold a non-perishable food and clothing drive to help the survivors who have lost everything they owned. We think the thought it good, but wonder if a monetary donation to the Red Cross would be better.

Farewell, Sweet Praline

It is with heavy hearts that we say farewell to the lovely Sweet Praline. Our beautiful friend crossed the Bridge yesterday after a brief battle with cancer. Her caring mom, Paula, knew it was time and helped Sweet Praline cross. That was the greatest gift she could give her furbaby.

We didn't know Sweet Praline as long as many of our Blogosphere friends did. But we know she was a special girl. We will always remember her fondly.

Another Crazy Cat Lady

Mom saw this picture on I Can Has Cheezburger some time ago. This lady has 14 kitty stickers on her vehicle. Mom has 16 on her SUV window. That's one for each of us and one for our angel brother, Colin Feral.

Mom said she'll have to take a picture of her window and post it.

We hope our friends who live in the areas that were hit with the horrible storms over the weekend are safe. We know who scary those tornado warnings are. Mom remembers the tornado that came through Louisville, KY in 1974.

We are also remembering our cousin, Tekvah, who crossed the Bridge on Wednesday. No one knows how old Tekvah was, but we do know that she was a senior kitty. Tekvah's vet suspected that she had lymphoma. She started failing and on Wednesday she was having difficulty breathing. Our Aunty Jen knew it was time, so she and the vet help Tekvah cross the Bridge. Once we get a picture of Tekvah from Aunty Jen, we will get mom to post it for us. She was a petite girl and very kittenish in appearance. We know she will be missed.
